OOGEEP
"PETRO PROS"

Help the Ohio Section of AIPG form an alliance with the Ohio's oil and gas industry by volunteering to present the Petroleum Professionals in the Classroom Program (PETRO PROS) prepared by the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP). This program is designed for elementary to middle school aged students. The 45-minute presentation addresses the basics of fossil fuels, exploration and oil production. A "presentation kit" is provided to each volunteer PETRO PRO with everything you will need (posters, materials and supplies including M&M's). A training video is available to assist the presenter and to encourage consistency. After your presentation, about $100 worth of materials stays in the classroom, and the depleted "presentation kit" is returned to a regional OOGEEP representative for re-stocking.

OOGEEP was formed after S.B 46 became law on December 18, 1997. OOGEEP is funded by an assessment made on the production of crude oil and natural gas in Ohio. The assessments are $0.01 per barrel of crude oil and $0.001 per gross thousand cubic feet of natural gas. Their Operating Board consists of six members representing the oil and gas producers and one member representing farm organizations.

OOGEEP participates in trade shows and special presentations. They developed a presentation board, which was exhibited at the Ohio Division of Oil and Gas area at the Ohio State Fair. Other activities include the launching of oilfield emergency response workshops/guide, a safety campaign for teenagers and oilfield tanks.

Over 150 requests for "PETRO PROS" were received from teachers at the Science Education Council of Ohio Conference (SECO). If you are interested in volunteering call Executive Director Rhonda Reda at 740-587-0410 or by e-mail at oogeep@aol.com and let her know that you are a member of AIPG! Let's show our support for Ohio's oil and gas industry.
